The ongoing Artsy Archives project brings you a true basement classic from Tampere, Finland 2001. "Life Is A Skullbow" plays a crucial part in the formative phase of the sound that was later named "forest folk". It's all there: relentless snake charmer drones, plonked mbiras, unhinged vocals, clumsy jams, squeaky strings. This is primal experimental music, at times hypnotic, at times awkward, driven purely by a starry-eyed zeal to make music.
Because the original master tapes are lost in time, this release has been done as a needle drop from a pristine vinyl. This causes some crackle, but the essence of the music has stayed intact.
Originally released as an LP edition of 200 copies by Vauva (Vauva-02) and Veglia (veglia03).
